Winter in th Languedoc
Its the last day of the year. It may be raining - again in the Uk, but here in the Languedoc we are very smuggly enjoying yet again temperatures of 18 degrees, with a cloudless sky and bright sunshine. The hens are happy and are still laying every day. The days are bit by little bit getting longer already, and the trees which have barely lost their leaves are already showing the first buds of Spring.
We have as usual had winter guests enjoying getting away from colder areas of the world. The two barns are cosy and comforting, and a great way of seeing this part of the Real South of France. Guests are using the bikes, taking picnics, and generally slowing down and de stressing.
Of course straight after Christmas is the traditional time for booking for the coming season, and already we have most of July booked in Papillon. How lovely that some guests return for many years, they seem to feel its like their own home, but in the sun, without the housework.!

" The season"
Its high summer in the lovely Languedoc, and Richard and I are up to our necks in guests and festivals, markets and music. The weather is fabulous with temperatures in the high 20's and early 30's.
Again this year we are fully booked until October. We always seem to have wonderful guests, who appreciate the quiet and features of Le Grand Hermitage.
Its fun to observe the guests at a distance. Some drive to receommended places given directions from Richard on how to avoid the Parisien tourists and the German and Dutch Motor homes, but some just stay, rest, drink a glass or two, swim, laze and generally do nothing, despite their best intentions.
Le Grand Hermitage woos you, its wraps its arms about you and absorbs you into its comforting web. Even the brave sightseers make sure they are back at Le Grand Hermitage mid afternoon to recover from the drive or large lunch and snooze gently in the hammocks.
Tomorrow its market day, which at the moment is a bit too busy with holiday makers, but I am cooking for guests so I need to see whats nice.mmmmm I feel some nice seafood for starters, and some lovely fresh lamb perfumed with our garden herbs. I have already picked Blackberries for one of the puddings, and peaches for another.
